Floating Architecture and Structures – an Answer to the Global Changes
- Floating architecture and structures – an answer to the global changes Currently a contradictory situation takes place. The climate and social change are going on. The sea level is rising by the smelting of ice and the extension of ocean owing to the temperature rise. This means: the building ground reduces above all things in costal and river districts. On the other hand the mankind and its claims with regard to living room is growing and more building sites are necessary. A smart solution for the conflict situation is the floating architecture. This means for example floating settlements and cities for South-East Asia or some places in Africa. In the consideration should be taken also so-called amphibious and floatable houses as a solution in case of floods in river destrics. For the moving building ground there must be investigated the following main points: - The resistance of usual materials and development of new materials and constructions, - Selfsufficency with regard to supply and disposal, - Safty of users andFloating architecture and structures – an answer to the global changes Currently a contradictory situation takes place. For the moving building ground there must be investigated the following main points: - The resistance of usual materials and development of new materials and constructions, - Selfsufficency with regard to supply and disposal, - Safty of users and construction, pontoon included with regard to fire, waterwaves, water chemistry and ice, - adaptation of architecture and design to the regional and national conditions, - environmental protection, - economic aspects For the problems some examples are demonstrated in the paper. As methods of the work are used the numerical simulation and experimental investigations in lab and in-situ.…
